Coconut Masala Chai
Masala chai is a India traditional tea, made with milk, spices and black tea. In this version, we replaced cow's milk for coconut milk and use coconut sugar, to the delight of coconut lovers, and also of those who do not consume dairy products. The hot spices of this tea make it a great beverage for cold days.
Recipe of Coconut Masala Chai
Yield: 2 servings Easy Time: 8 minutes
Ingredients
1 and 1/2 cup water 5 cardamoms 4 star anise 3 black pepper 3 thin slices of ginger 1 stick cinnamon 2 cloves 1 black tea bag 1 cup of homemade coconut milk 4 tsp of coconut sugar (or other)
Directions
Boil water with cardamom, star anise, black pepper, cinnamon and cloves;
After start boiling, lower the heat and turn it off after 6 minutes;
Put the black tea and wait for 1 more minute;
Strain, add the coconut milk and sugar. Heat if needed. Ready!
Tips
The coconut milk can be replaced by another non-dairy milk, but I recoment almond and macadamia milk;
For containing black tea, which is stimulant, the consumption of this tea is not indicated for the period of the night. If you want to consume it at night, do not put black tea during the preparation.
Ayurveda
Pacifies vata and kapha a little bit. Increases the pitta dosha.
