Cooked Apples With Dates Cream

Cooked Apples With Dates Cream

This is an easily digestible food and a great option for when we have a poor appetite, when we are debilitated by a disease, on an Ayurvedic detox diet or just to vary the menu.

The dates paste is a natural sweetener with many benefits and a good substitute for sugar. See the recipe and more information here.

Cooked Apples With Dates Cream Recipe

Sugar-free, vegan, lactose-free and gluten-free.

Yield: 2 servings Easy Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

2 apples 1/4 cup date paste 1 cinnamon stick 1 pinch of sea salt Water

Directions

  1. Wash the apples, peel and chop them into small cubes. Reserve the peel;

  2. Place chopped apples in a pan with a little bit of water, the cinnamon and the salt;

  3. Cook over low heat until soft. Before finishing, add the dates paste and mix well;

  4. Serve still hot, garnished with chopped nuts, mint leaves, cinnamon or whatever you want.

Tips

  1. With the apple peel you can make a tea. One option is the apple, ginger and star anise tea;

  2. You can substitute the dates paste for a spoon of sugar, noting that WHO warns us to reduce the consumption of sugar to no more than 50 g per day, or you can simply do not sweeten (the best option);

  3. You can store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and warm it before eating.

Ayurveda

Suitable for vata, pitta and kapha dosha, specially for cold days; For summer and for pitta dosha, I suggest you not to put cinnamon.
