Chapati is a traditional Indian bread baked in the skillet.
The ancient science of Ayurveda indicates its consumption to be easy to digest, because it is not made with yeast.
Its preparation is much faster than the homemade yeast bread, but it takes more work. However, it's worth!
It is a great solution for a quick snack.
Serves: 6 persons
Time: 30 minutes
1 cup fine whole wheat flour
1 cup white flour
1 tsp sea salt
Seasonings to taste (turmeric, fennel, ginger powder ...) - optional
2 tbsp of oil
1 cup water
In a bowl mix the flour, salt and spices;
Add ½ cup of water and mix with your fingertips;
Add the oil once and the remaining water slowly;
Mix until the dough is soft. Avoid adding more flour;
Let stand for 10 minutes for the flour to absorb the water;
Knead the dough for 5 to 10 minutes;
Make balls, open with a roller flat discs on a floured bench and take them to the skillet over medium-high. Heat until small bubbles form on each side (about 15 seconds) and then put both side directly on a high flame to blow up like a balloon. It's ready!
