Oats and Pear Crumble
Crumble is a typical british dessert that was created during the Second World War, a period of resources restriction, as a simple and quick way to substitute the elaborated traditional pies.
It is a baked dessert made with fresh fruit (the most common is apple) at the base and a crispy cover, usually made up of flour and butter.
The below presented option is an adaptation, healthier than the original, because it is made with oats and does not contain butter.
Serves: 4 persons
Time: 1 hour
3 peeled and chopped pears
3 tablespoon dehydrated cranberry (optional)
Drops of lemon
1 cup oatmeal in flakes
1 tablespoon whole wheat flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup of chopped Brazil nuts
1 pinch of salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoon sunflower oil (or another one: coconut, olive...)
1 tablespoon water
Place the chopped pear, cranberry and lemon drops in a small ovenproof dish or in 4 individual ones.
In a bowl, mix the remaining ingredients.
Cover the pears with the mixture pressing it and bake in a moderate temperature for about 30 minutes, or until it gets baked.
Increases Kapha dosha;
Decreases Pitta dosha;
Decreases Vata dosha (eat it warm).
